We are not completely online yet. But will be soon.
Before taking the training, you need to submit your non-resident CCW application, with a law enforcement agency in California.
There are a couple of items you need to consider. (Please read ever line)
First, the start date for accepting applications is April 22, 2025.
Second, you must be a member of at least one of these following groups. (all of these are clickable links and will open in a new window)
California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA)
Gun Owners of America (GOA)
Gun Owners of California
Second Amendment Foundation (SAF)
And the next consideration is, you must in good faith expect to be visiting the jurisdiction you apply to in the next year. Note that the court order doesn’t stipulate what actually constitutes spending time; arguably this could include getting gas.
Other things to consider.
Some agencies require psychological examination. Although this makes people nervous, it really isn't a big deal. But it is an additional expense.
Each agency may have their own rules on what kind of handguns (including accessories) you can carry; check with the agency before applying. Lasers are often prohibited, as well as some less-common calibers. (Some agencies restrict, single action such as 1911's)
If a separate non-resident application is not available, the standard California Concealed Handgun License application or online portal is permitted. Non-California information, such as your driver license number, would simply be substituted for your appropriate state.
You will be required to submit fingerprints on a standard FBI 258 Blue Fingerprint Card.
While your guns do not need to be “on the California roster”, they have to be otherwise legal to carry in California. Most ordinary concealed carry/self-defense handguns meet this criteria.
You cannot carry magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
You cannot use a pistol with a threaded barrel.
Handguns that shoot shotgun shells are NOT legal in the state of California.
PLEASE! Make sure the agency you apply with, will accept our online training before taking our course.
